Novak Djokovic's rain-hit Eastbourne debut lasted only eight minutes.
The Serb star's second round match against Canadian Vasek Pospisil had only just got underway this morning when the heavens opened.
Play at Devonshire Park was eventually abandoned for the day at just before 5pm, with Djokovic 1-0 up and 30-15 ahead in Pospisil's opening service game.
In the little action that was possible on centre court, Djokovic delivered two double faults and faced two break points before serving and playing his way out of trouble.
The world No.4 has dropped out of the top three for the first time in eight years after a poor run of form.
Spectators with tickets for today's play can claim a full refund following the near-washout.
Tomorrow's schedule, including British No.1 from Eastbourne Johanna Konta's clash with Romanian sorana Cirstea, starts half-an-hour early at 10.30am as organisers of the Aegon International combined event try to catch-up.
