Johanna Konta breezed through her grudge match with Romanian Sorana Cirstea at Eastbourne today.

The local hope won 6-2, 6-2 in 72 minutes to secure a last 16 clash this evening with Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.

Konta was accused of gamesmanship by Federation Cup rival Cirstea in April after Romanian captain Ilie Nastase reduced the British No.1 to tears with a foul-mouthed verbal assualt.

The match was suspended before Konta romped to victory on the resumption. Cirstea branded Konta as too soft and claimed she exaggerated her emotional turmoil.

There was no drama this time as the match ended with a respectful handshake between the pair.

Konta is playing twice today as organisers of the Aegon International play catch-up following yesterday's virtual washout.
