Johanna Konta is a doubt for Wimbledon after pulling out of her Eastbourne semi-final today with a back injury.
The British No.1 withdrew from her clash against world No.3 Karolina Pliskova with the injury sustained in a heavy fall near the end of her victory over world No.1 Angelique Kerber last night.
Konta initially felt okay after bumping her head, but the back discomfort became apparent overnight.
She said: "I made the decision based on the fact I'm still quite sore through my thoracic spine and I'm just basically looking to make sure I really can recover in the best way possible.
"Next week is Wimbledon but I made this decision based on looking after my healthy, regardless of what tournament is coming up.
"I didn’t sleep too well but I think that's normal after a fall. But we left it as late as possible to see how things developed this morning, but it just felt it wasn't quite right."
Eastbourne world No.7 Konta is due to face world No. 112 Su-wei Hsieh, who beat her in the first round of the French Open last month, at Wimbledon on Monday.
Her injury setback coincides with footage of British men's No.1 and two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray struggling in practise this morning with the hip injury which has interrupted his preparations for the All-England Club.
