A late penalty denied Eastbourne Borough their first win in 13 games at Hayes and Yeading.

Jamie Taylor's first goal in almost three months looked to have earned Borough all three points only for substitute Steve Basham to level from the spot in injury time.

It was cruel on Borough who had led since the ninth minute when Taylor ran on to a clever ball from Joe Benjamin to dispatch a low shot past Simon Overland.

Hayes had a couple of half chances in the first half which were comfortably dealt with by Danny Knowles and Borough should have wrapped up the game with two great openings around the hour mark, Taylor headed over when unmarked at the far post from a corner and then Liam Enver-Marum took too long to shoot after being put clean through and the opportunity was gone.

It looked like those wasted chances would not matter as Borough kept Hayes at bay but they were dealt another bitter blow in the first minute of injury time.

Gary Elphick flung himself at the ball to clear a corner and the referee pointed to the spot, with confusion whether it was handball or a push. On--loan Luton striker Basham stepped up to fire home from 12 yards to make it three 1-1 draws in a row for Borough.
