Dean Wilkins is preparing for a one-off playing return at Bognor.

The former Albion manager could even end up coaching at the Conference south club if he does not find a full-time job in the Football League.

Wilkins, who lost his job as first team boss after taking the Seagulls to seventh place last season, will turn out in an exhibition match at Nyewood Lane on Sunday.

He features for a Bognor Legends XI against a team of ex-pros to mark the Rocks' 125th anniversary celebrations (1pm).

Wilkins played for Bognor under Jack Pearce, who is now general manager.

Pearce will ask Wilkins to coach at Nyewood Lane but he hopes it does not come to that.

The Bognor chief said: "If Dean doesn't find a job back in football, which I'm sure he will, we will ask him to do a couple of sessions with us.

"I have a high regard for his coaching ability and we are good friends.

"I'm convinced he will find a job.

"It will show up the English game in a very bad light if such a good technical coach as Dean cannot get a job.

"It would be a travesty and something that could only happen in England because we are years behind other countries technically."

Alan Knight, Paul Rogers, Charlie Oatway, Warren Aspinall and top Bognor players from recent years are taking part in the match. Admission is £5 for adults, £2 for children and £10 for a family of four.

Worthing forward Ben Johnson is training with his former club Bognor.

Johnson scored 16 goals for the Rebels last season.

never wrong dave - in my opinion you're a total plonker. Enough people in the sport speak highly of Dean Wilkins so I would trust their judgement rather than someone who obviously knows nothing about football or English grammar.
