Katie Price has insisted that her marriage to Alex Reid is "legal" and genuine.

It follows reports that the minister who conducted their wedding ceremony at the Wynn casino in Las Vegas last month had no power to do so.

But a statement issued on Katie's behalf claimed the marriage was perfectly legitimate and they had been assured that it had been properly authorised.

It said: "Following the revelations in the press over the past couple of days regarding the validity of Katie and Alex's wedding, we would like to state that the marriage is 100 per cent legitimate and legal."

It went on: "The Wynn, where they married, and the Office of the County Clerk Marriage Services Division have both confirmed that Reverend Mose Henney, who conducted the wedding ceremony, is legally authorised to perform marriage ceremonies."

Model Katie and her cage-fighter partner married on February 2, just days after he emerged from the Celebrity Big Brother house and only months after they began dating.
