England football fans are biting their nails as the national team contests a thrilling Euro 2012 match against Sweden in Ukraine.

Andy Carroll headed England in front in their Euro 2012 Group D encounter in Kiev.

The Liverpool striker broke the deadlock after 23 minutes when he headed home a cross from skipper Steven Gerrard.

Sweden's Olof Melburg equalised three minutes after half-time and headed a second goal 10 minutes later to put Sweden ahead.

England manager Roy Hodgson responded by taking off James Milner and replacing him with Theo Walcott.

It was an inspired move with the Arsenal player equalising after 64 minutes.

And Manchester United's Danny Welbeck scored in the 78th minute to put England 3-2 ahead.

The game began 15 minutes later than planned to avoid a clash with France's 2-0 win over Ukraine in Donetsk, which was delayed by rain.

There were around 20,000 Swedish fans in the stadium, outnumbering the England contingent by a four-to-one ratio.
