Armed with a documentary, their marauding 2ManyDJs alter-egos
and a catalogue of remixes spanning everyone from Kylie to DJ Shadow,
Hot Chip and The Rolling Stones, Soulwax don their party hats for
a multi-sensory extravaganza to mark the Concorde 2's ongoing
21st birthday celebrations.
David and Steven Dewaele's Belgian collective will be playing tracks from their Most Of The Remixes album.
The exhaustive full title of the LP amounted to a rambling explanation of why they had reworked music as disparate as Robbie Williams and LCD Soundsystem, but the diversity of their subjects invariably excites rather
than appals, particularly given their propensity to make the crudest of
pop palatably danceable.
Arguably the most popular of these was their treatment of The Gossip's Standing In The Way Of Control, a glorious, guitar-laden steeling of the original hit which illustrated the originality and scope of their production capabilities and left critics pondering why they hadn't overseen the entire album for Beth Ditto et al.
The tour follows the premiere of their film, Part Of The Weekend
Never Dies, in which Saam Farahmand chased Soulwax across several continents and caught up with Justice, Peaches, The Klaxons and a host of fellow leading lights they have collaborated with.
Golden Ticket holders will be able to see the film in full at the Duke Of York's Picturehouse, Preston Circus, Brighton, prior to the gig.
