Bang Face Weekender, Camber Sands Holiday Park, near Rye, Apr 25-27

10:28am Friday 25th April 2008

Up to 3,000 neo-rave lovers will be descending on Camber Sands for three days, featuring some of the original legends of rave and techno.

The inaugural Bang Face Weekender features a special appearance by the godfather of techno, Juan Atkins, in his first live date as his alter-ego Model 500, joined by Mike Banks of Detroit techno label Underground Resistance.

Phil Hartnoll will be recalling the early days of rave and acid house around the M25 circular with an Orbital set, featuring some of the anthems he produced with his brother Paul. Phil will also be showcasing his new Long Range project, which sees him investigate more atmospheric, soundscape-based sonics.

What is being billed as "three days of neo-rave Armageddon" is aimed at those who might have missed the glory days of rave the first time around. The weekender is covering everything from acid, jungle and rave to hardcore, drum 'n' bass, techno and electro, as well as finding room for a jungle pool party and the first human rave bomb.

Bang Face, a creation of rave-crusaders St Acid, has been the mecca of underground dance music at London's Electrowerks for the past four years, with clubbers encouraged to don white gloves, fancy dress, horns, glo-sticks, blow-up toys and masks, during their nights out.

This weekend's bill also features the first ever UK show by Dopplereffekt, cult favourite Squarepusher, pictured, and the industrial-masked Altern-8.

Also look out for sets by Kid606, The Ragga Twins, Plaid, Cassette Boy and even a cockney knees-up with Chas and Dave, who will probably be wondering what they agreed to...

Check-in starts at 1pm, tickets £110 per person for the full weekend. Call 0844 5611363 or visit www.bangface.com/weekender.
