Unplanned Afternoons, The Hampton, Brighton, Apr 26
Ian Joilet
It started as a way of passing a boring Sunday.
The impromptu house party at Ian Joilet's gaff three years ago turned
into a regular afternoon event, organised (kind of) at various locations
around the capital by Ian and his mate The Smackmaster General.
Now Unplanned Afternoons is being brought to Brighton featuring Ian and special guests Spencer and Ruby Rocks, and 2MattGs - also known as The Smackmaster General and Ogrizovic. This time it's on a Saturday afternoon.
Ian describes it as: "DJs playing music, but it's not four-to-the-floor mayhem. It's a home from home where you can dress up, or dress down; shake your tail-feather, or take a load off; get back on the horse, or have
a nice cup of tea.
"Musically, think of Unplanned Afternoons as your mildly eccentric
friend, letting you idly thumb through their vast record collection and
discover all manner of curious delights. Old stuff, new stuff and somewhere
in between stuff; it's the songs you love and never get to hear, plus new
tunes you won't be able to live without."
The Brighton event is to raise money for the Love Music Hate Racism campaign, on the 30th anniversary of the famous Anti-Nazi League/Rock Against Racism carnival in East London's Victoria Park.
