The Brighton Moment began life as a cabaret-style literary event in the Brighton Fringe in 2005, inviting well-known published local writers to contribute their experiences of any moment they felt was quintessentially "Brighton".
This May, The Brighton Moment became part of the Brighton Festival for the first time and The Illustrated Brighton Moment, edited by Susanna Jones and Lawrence Zeegen, brought together a collection of the best of three years' worth of live Brighton Moments, matched by a unique series of illustrations depicting each artist's own Brighton moment created especially for the book.
The result is 53 incredibly diverse "moments" stories, descriptions, comment and illustration packed into an elegant cream volume just the right size for dipping into on the bus. A literary packet of Revels or, more appropriately perhaps, of Bertie Bott¹s Every Flavour Beans.
The Illustrated Brighton Moment, edited by Susanna Jones and Lawrence Zeegen, is published by Unmadeup at £9.99 and available from bookshops or online at www.thebrightonmoment.com
Now, readers of The Argus are being invited to contribute their own "Moments" to add to the overall picture of Brighton's idiosyncrasy and general marvellousness!
