Elgar Anniversary Concert, Dome Concert Hall, Brighton, Sun, May 27

To mark the 150th anniversary of the great composer's birth The Philharmonia Orchestra is performing Sir Edward Elgar's The Dream Of Gerontius with the help of the Brighton Festival Chorus.

The show is part of an 18-date orchestra tour led by the conductor Sir Andrew Davis. The orchestra will be joined by contralto Catherine Wyn-Rogers, tenor James Gilchrist and bass voice Peter Sidhorn in the last big classical concert of the festival.

Alistair Mackie, chairman of the orchestra says: "This project will be bringing Elgar into people's lives, 150 years after his birth."
