Fanfare Ciocarlia and Tcha Limberger’s Budapest Gypsy Orchestra, Brighton Dome Concert Hall, Sat May 17

The best-known gypsy band in the world, Fanfare Ciocarlia started life as a village wedding band in the remote mountains of north-east Romania.

Awarded BBC Radio 3's World Music Award For Europe, they fuelled a global Balkan beats revivalwith their dizzying brand of roaring Roma funk and high speed Eastern European dance music.

Blind Belgian violinist Tcha Limberger is froma family of manouche musicians. Drawn to Hungarian music from an early age, Limberger spent three years studying its roots in Budapest and revists the heart of Budapest café culturewith his handpicked ensemble of Hungary's finest gypsy players.

Look out for Fanfare Ciocarlia taking over New Road from 2pm on Saturday, May 17 as part of a special free event hosted by Brighton's Balkan Beats UK.
