Mark E Smith, The Old Court House, Church Street, Brighton, Sat May 24

1:00pm Friday 23rd May 2008

As front man and sole survivor of indie cult band The Fall, Mark E Smith's 30-year stint in the music business has seen him go from being dubbed the grumpiest man in pop by the NME to being voted greatest Mancunian of all time by Manchester Evening News readers.

A singer and lyricist, his songs have covered topics ranging from unemployment and football violence, to time travel and ghosts.

His autobiography, Renegade: The Gospel According to Mark E Smith was published in April and for the first time Smith will be giving his own wry and candid account on The Fall, the drugs, imprisonment, divorce and band in-fighting.

Renowned for his stage antics, such as walking off stage, adjusting band member's instruments midway through a gig or simply not turning up, Smith's eagerly anticipated talk is sure to provide some revelations.
