Drakes Hotel Bar is turning up the heat this summer with an enticing new cocktail menu.

With romance in mind, Mexican Mojito, Italian Passion, Forbidden Fruit and Peach Flirtini are just some of the seductive blends shaking things up in the gorgeous boutique hotel on Brighton’s seafront.

“We’re not afraid to use adventurous ingredients,” says bar manager Tony Antoniak, who can be found skilfully mixing top quality ingredients with everything from lychees and Pisang to purple Parfait d’Amour behind the striking black marble bar.

“We like to put our own spin on the classics, which is great if you are slightly bored by the usual offerings and want to try something different.”

The inventive menu, with cocktails starting from £7.50, is divided into four categories: “straight up Martini fashion”, with its choice of Daiquiri,

Margarita, Martini and Manhattan; “with bubbles”, including Gorgeous Geisha (lychee liqueur, creme de fraise, champagne), and Good Night kiss (campari, Grand Marnier, brown sugar, champagne); “the long”, which offers the likes of Zombie (rum, velvet falernum, apricot brandy, pineapple juice, lime juice); and “the short of it”, with its irresistible collection of concotions such as Sweet Kiss (cariel, goldshlager, caramel liqueur, creme de framboise, cream).

As the temperature is rising, Tony says he has introduced fruitier, more refreshing combinations to keep guests cool. Why not enjoy a pre-dinner drink before dining at the Gingerman Restaurant on the lower ground floor, or get yourself in the mood before a night on the town? You don’t have to be a resident to enjoy the sophisticated surroundings and fabulous sea views.
