Low, St George’s Church, Brighton, April 16

1:32pm Friday 11th April 2008

By Duncan Hall »

Where many bands like to play turned all the way up to 11, Low have made their name by doing the complete opposite.

Starting out in 1993 - an awkwardly incongrous addition to a music scene dominated by grunge - the Minnesota threesome's gentle, otherworldly sound defined the alt-rock genre slowcore.

When they played their last sell-out Brighton gig, also at St George's Church, the audience was stunned into an awed silence by their music.

Featuring husband-and-wife duo Alan Sparhawk (vocals and guitar) and Mimi Parker (vocals and drums) and Matt Livingstone on bass and vocals, latest album Drums And Guns, released last March, is their eighth full-length album.

  • Starts 7.30pm, tickets cost £15-£17. Call Rounder Records on 01273 325440 or Resident on 01273 606312
