When cult indie band Camera Obscura wrote their breakthrough song Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken it was (an admittedly late) response to a classic by this English songwriting legend. Lloyd Cole And The Commotions were a bright light to lovers of the song in the dark days of synth-driven New Romantic pop.
His 1984 debut album Rattlesnakes burst with instant songwriting gems, including the title track, the top 30 hit Perfect Skin and the bittersweet album closer Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken? Lloyd broke up the band in 1989 and began an idiosyncratic solo career which has earned him a hardcore following of fans. This acoustic show follows on from the release of three volumes of his live BBC Sessions last year.
