A disappointingly small Devonshire Park audience on Monday thoroughly enjoyed a modern-day rendition of the Gospels of Jesus, superbly played by Tom Bradley.
Bradley, a finalist on TV show Grease Is The Word, and Craig Purnell (doubling as John The Baptist and Judas) are a great double act.
They are given terrific support by the rest of the cast, particularly Lucy Kerans-Hunt and Tiffany Graves, who both ooze sex appeal.
Godspell is The Gospel According To St Matthew, told through the songs of Stephen Schwartz. Most of the numbers are pleasing, but there is one true show-stopper - Day By Day.
Paul Kerryson's almost simplistic version has plenty of energy and vitality, but lacks the extra dimension of some previous Godspells in which John The Baptist was depicted as a clown as he gathered disciples from the streets by blowing on a horn.
There are no clowns here, but lots of fun, with Purnell throwing water around as he baptises people with a bucket and sponge - don't sit too near the front.
