And Then There Were None, Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne, until April 19
It was very much a case of "all our yesterdays", with Gerald Harper and Peter Byrne starring in Agatha Chritstie's famous tale about ten people murdered one-by-one.
At the ripe old age of 79, Harper takes the lead role as Sir Lawrence Wargrave. He still possesses the silky voice that wowed fans in the 1960s and his remarkable presence makes up for the lack of emotion he shows.
Byrne, now 80, offers good support, but is overshadowed by the dynamic performance
of 1960s pop singer
Mark Wynter.
Other TV stars Denis Lilland Alex Fernsalso stand out, although Ferns tends to copy his manic EastEnders character.
The suspense takes
a while to build up,
but there are moments
of macabre humour and
a very clever twist.
