I attended the hearing which considered the further control of estate agent boards (The Argus, March 10), to put the case for the Brunswick and Adelaide wards to be included in any extension of the ban.
I have to say there was a very good debate between estate agents’ representatives, residents and the council. One estate agent even spoke in favour of the ban.
What it really comes down to now is the geographical extent of the ban, and that question will be decided by the Secretary of State.
I have followed this issue from day one, proposing the highly successful original control order for our historic squares and terraces.
This has made an enormous difference to the city’s heritage, with little negative impact on local estate agents.
I am happy to wait a few weeks for the Secretary of State to make a fair and legal decision, which I hope will see the whole of my ward included.
I would also like to thank the residents from my ward who attended the hearing to help make this case.
