I have been waiting for a response to Liz Lee’s letter (Letters, March 1) in which she asked us to put environmental issues to the top of the political agenda.
Previously there have been several letters which denied global warming evidenced by the cold winter we have been having. What nobody has mentioned is the effect of the melting Arctic ice which blocks the Gulf Stream that previously has warmed our coast and climate.
With this icy Atlantic water coming south from the Pole, we shall have many cold winters, not in spite of global warming but because of it.
