Disabled bus

Since we downsized to one car about 18 months ago, I have travelled a lot by bus, at all times of day and on a wide variey of routes.

I am incensed that bus companies have had to spend millions of pounds on wheelchair-accessible buses, yet on not one single journey has anyone got on in a wheelchair on any bus I have used.

So I am paying higher bus fares just to satisfy the politically correct brigade.

Also the City Council must have spent tens of thousand of pounds on raising the kerbs at bus stops to help the disabled and speed up loading and unloading generally but, away from the city centre, bus stops are invariably parked on by inconsiderate motorists while they "just pop into the local shop".

I travel on buses regularly and have senn lots of wheelchair users using buses. Not been to Lancing though. But Wendy, you're only paying higher bus fares to satisfy the bus company shareholders.

it is this labour government that says all public transport, buses, hackney cabs and trains, has to be 'disabled friendly'. you are correct that you don't see many wheelchair users on buses, but they are there. bus companies have HAD to make investment in new buses to comply with the law, the same as taxi drivers have to. these vehicles have to be paid for, either by higher fares, or by government grants. either way, you will pay!
