As spring arrives and the sun starts to shine again, we can look forward to the amazing events Brighton and Hove has on its door-step in the summer months.
Last year’s carnival drew approximately 40,000 people to the city for fun, frolics and a fantastic parade.
Well, to make sure this summer’s carnival is just as good – if not better – we need your help. We didn’t receive our funding this year because, as I am sure you all know, there just isn’t as much money in this economic climate.
However, everyone involved is working hard and putting in lots of voluntary hours to ensure Carnival 2010 is amazing and we have some great plans. To save costs we are committed to creating a recycled carnival, with costumes made from recycled materials so we can also keep up our title as the greenest carnival in the country.
If we can get everyone who attended last year to donate just £1, we would have £40,000, which means we can pay for the infrastructure needed, including the road closures, toilets, stages, security etc.
We have set up a link on our website www.brighton carnival.co.uk where you can easily donate.
If you are a business, an organisation or an individual and want to be a “Carnival Hero” and help save the day you can do so for just £150.
We will announce who all our Carnival Heroes are to say a big thank you.
We really hope the people of Brighton and Hove will support us in these fundraising efforts. We want our city to remain the best place to live and visit in the summer with a carnival we can all be proud of.
To get in touch with us for more information, email boardofdirectors@brightoncarnival.co.uk. We hope we can count on your support.
