Lorry litter

3:40pm Monday 15th March 2010

As a frequent daytime user of the A27 Shoreham to Beddingham section, I concur with a lot of the comment being made about the trail of litter along this stretch of road.

My own observation is that most of the roadside rubbish, if looked at more carefully, would reveal it was not thrown from a private car, although a proportion is, but arrived from badly sheeted-down bulk landfill lorries and small open-backed builders’ and house clearers’ lorries. I cannot be alone in seeing this.

Are you really telling me people have vast polythene sheets and huge lumps of fibreglass lagging etc in their cars? I think not.

I can of course hear the contractors wailing “not us Guv” as they count their money and tell you how strict their rules are, but maybe they should foot some of the clean-up costs.

So, please look a little closer at where a lot of this litter comes from... I’m sure the heroes who clean it up for us (thank you guys) will back- up what I have seen.
