Your story about the Fringe brochure (The Argus, March 17) missed out one detail – the registration fee for the Fringe is £150 per event.
I run a comedy night in a 40-seater room above a pub, and I usually charge £2. It would cost me £300 to register my two gigs on May 1 and 15 as Fringe events. It says on the Fringe website, “The Fringe is open to anyone.” It isn’t. They price out the very people the Fringe is supposed to be for.
I’ve taken part in every Fringe for the past ten years and now I want to put a couple of my own gigs in there I’m excluded, as are many smaller venues and promoters in Brighton.
Time for the peasants to start revolting?
