Meaty issues

Livestock not only produces half of global human-made greenhouse gases, but also places a very heavy burden on the planet’s resources.

It takes 16lbs of grain and soya beans to produce one pound of beef and one acre of land can grow 2,000lbs of potatoes but only produce 165lbs of beef.

Rainforests are being chopped down to create massive cattle grazing areas and to create land to grow the vast numbers of crops needed to feed livestock.

Furthermore, meat consumption is linked to heart disease, strokes and cancer.

Switching to a meat-free diet would significantly reduce our carbon footprint and dramatically improve our health.

Do you just print off the same letter every month ? You're beginning to sound like a bit of a nut now - we've heard your point of view now let people make up their own mind rather than be lectured by you every month. Anyway, I'm off to cook my burgers for my tea - yum !

a nice tasty veggie burger, Fight Back? or one made from lung, lard, brain, mechanically retrieved meat, connective tissue, salmonella, E Coli and CJD? enjoy...

I must admit, every time I hear of yet another meat-based incident - E.Coli outbreak, BSE - I can't help but have a smug little smile to myself.
And, it turns out I'm saving the planet! Brilliant!
I don't have a problem with anyone eating whatever they like, but everyone should know precisely *what* they're eating, so their choice is informed. If you like eating mushed up manky bits, go for it, but don't criticise others for not or hide from the truth because you wish it wasn't true.

Meat eaters have a choice but unfortunately the animals dont. Most of them though dont really care what they are eating and will never give it a second thought. Its all nicely and cleanly packaged. No blood. If you are going to eat meat then be prepared to kill it your self, and see whatgoes on in a slaughterhouse. If they cant stomach that then they are being hypocritical.

Can't we just take a spear into Asda and catch it frozen?

And if we can (and do), meat is ok to eat is it?

Sorry but in my opinion veggie food is dull and boring. The only reason I have veg is because she-who-must-be-obey
ed says it's good for me.

As for the spectacularly daft idea that I should kill the animal myself, I don't think that would ease animal suffering, having an incompetent hacking away with a big knife

I leave you with this thought. If veggie food is so good, why do you try and make it the same as mine, burgers and sausages for example. After all, I don't take a piece of steak and try and make it look like a carrot

If we switched to a vegetarian diet wouldn't we also produce a lot of gases? It is either us or the cattle.

The human race is passed saving but the planet will survive.
Pass the mustard. Steak needs mustard.

Veggies don't produce more gas than meat-eaters.
And the food I make is utterly delicious! My hardcore carnivore family agree (even my dad who was convinced that if he ate veggie food he'd turn gay).
I do believe, though, that when you buy a leg of anything, they should leave the foot on.

Just as I thought these animal rights veggies don't really want any animals in the world
