The idea a Naked Bike Ride by green-minded and safety- conscious cyclists is in any way sleazy or deplorable is ridiculous (The Argus, May 28).
Brighton makes a large portion of its revenue from promoting stag and hen nights, casinos, pubs, clubs, live music and the arts, the neon-lit pier and, of course, the “pleasure palace” that is the Royal Pavilion, and yet this bicycle ride is being dubbed as being bad for the city’s image! What city are they thinking of? Certainly not the open-minded, cosmopolitan Brighton most of us know and love.

Councillor Mary Mears and her Tory chums are totally right: the Brighton and Hove annual Naked Bike Ride is absolutely immoral and indecent and should be banned forthwith, and riot police deployed if needed.
And while we’re at it, please could we knock down the main dome of the Pavilion? It’s clearly modelled on a bosom.
