Cigarette butts are the most dropped item of litter on Adur and Worthing’s streets (The Argus, July 18).
Both councils have put in place measures to help smokers dispose of their cigarette butts responsibly, including installing cigarette bins in “hotspots”, working with businesses where staff smoke on the street, installing stubber plates on bins and giving away free portable ashtrays. We have already given away more than 100 portable ashtrays in Worthing town centre. They offer a means of cigarette disposal when you are out and about and can be picked up from the Adur Civic Centre in Ham Road or from Worthing Town Hall.
Alternatively you can call Street Scene on 01273 263047.
