Alien nation

I read with horror your front page story about the policeman who will be keeping his pension and the money he was paid while suspended (The Argus, July 22).

Events like this and the non-prosecution of the officer involved in the death of Ian Tomlinson at the protest in London will only serve to alienate the public from the police at a time when the police need all the public support they can get.

I understand it was his boyfriend who apparently was responsible for the provision of these ill-gotten gains. If they have entered a civil partnership, will the partner then be in receipt of his pension should the policeman die?

Security: "only-want" - says it all.

Well , this is not the first case and that is for sure! I rememebr recently a Woman Chief Super or something was stealing stuff and all sorts and was not even charged but let off to retire on considerably more than I have! It always seems that the Police have it both ways. Maybe the American system of taking the Pension away. Removing all the Non Contributory aspects.. But that will not happen, they have been at it for far too long and, if recent events are anything to go by.. they are worse now than they ever were.. There! I have got that off my Chest!
