Brighton and Hove City Council has a strategic plan to improve the welfare of the city’s children.
This was a long-term plan set out in 2009... its primary concern was those children most at risk from living in poverty and needing specialist intervention from services.
I would like to know what the results are as I am not hearing that lives are improving or that housing needs are being met.
Finances are not improving – it seems as though the complete opposite is the case, due to the capping of housing costs, which of course will have a negative impact on the lives of many children and young people.
What are the latest numbers of children at risk, for example? Incidences of violence and the numbers of young people using drugs and alcohol seems to be on the increase.
