Instead of giving East and West Sussex councillors free lunches while working, that money could go towards a party for the Queen’s Jubilee and not be added to our already hefty council tax bill (The Argus, January 30).
Who else gets free food as part of their job? Nurses, teachers, refuse collectors? I think not.
This is, of course, if we actually want a party for the Queen. As one of the richest women in the country, maybe she could host a party for the poorest of children herself.

I can't see why they should have to pay for any food - why on earth should they have to provide their own lunch? If I had my way they would be provided with breakfast and dinner as well. The council should arrange free deliveries of milk and honey so that they are not distracted from urgent council business.
Furthermore, I can't understand why these poor folk are forced to pay for their own clothing - a requirement of their everyday work. This is surely something that should be covered by tax-payers? Perhaps they would accept cash instead of the clothing parcel I was thinking of sending.
