SEVERAL neighbours along with ourselves have been trying to get our street lights back on in Vernon Road, Uckfield. We understand the need to make cost savings, but it’s pitch black from just after midnight until 5.30am.
Having had lights for more than 20 years, we feel extremely vulnerable now, and believe the police are right in saying crime is more likely in unlit areas.
Despite pleas to the town and county councils, and to councillors, we cannot get anyone to authorise the lights to be switched back on – not even on a dimmer setting.
