Site specifics

I was dismayed to read the article “Traveller problem will not go away” (The Argus, March 11). This contentious piece reinforced and perpetuated fear and hatred towards travellers and gypsies.

Street sense

4:01pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

I note Chris Cooke (Letters, March 15) states that “St James’s Street is not an area of high crime”, and that it is “a misconception that the streets are not safe to walk down in the evenings, for example”.

Shutter Island

4:02pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

For any readers who haven’t seen Shutter Island at the cinema – do! It is creepy and full of twists – a bit like The Others, which starred Nicole Kidman and our very own Eric Sykes.

Buses hard work despite disability investment

4:03pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

I would like to respond to the letter regarding the scarcity of wheelchair users on the buses that Wendy Taylor travels on (Letters, March 15).

Nice work!

3:53pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

Congratulations to Andy Chiles on his excellent factual report on the financing of local MPs (The Argus, March 13).

Dire Rea

3:54pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

Your reviewer’s criticisms of Chris Rea’s Brighton Centre gig (The Argus, March 16) are an echo of those in my letter published in The Argus a couple of years or so ago about a previous show of his.

Skate plan

3:54pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

Instead of pouring concrete into the Saltdean Lido, has nobody thought of making a frame to cover the pool and turning it into a skating rink?

Wrong line

3:55pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

Why are the Brighton marathon organisers using the tagline “London by the sea” in all their promotional activities? It’s actually quite insulting to people who were born and live in Brighton.

Biking advice

3:56pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

I respond to the request from Miles French regarding his recent biker experience (Letters, March 16).

This is the law

4:20pm Tuesday 16th March 2010

As a driver of 30 years’ experience I understand that double yellow lines mean no parking, as to do so would endanger someone else or at best cause an obstruction to other road users.
