Heroes wanted – help make Carnival 2010 our best ever

5:00pm Friday 12th March 2010

As spring arrives and the sun starts to shine again, we can look forward to the amazing events Brighton and Hove has on its door-step in the summer months.

Swipe and stir

4:59pm Friday 12th March 2010

I am writing in response to the article headed “Police spend millions on free housing” (The Argus, March 9) by your chief reporter, Emily Walker.

Low standards

4:58pm Friday 12th March 2010

May I reply to the letter by Bernard Woolf (Letters, March 4) that suggested we stop all benefits to teach teens the real cost of living. I wish to make the following points: Mr Woolf rightly describes Colombia as a very poor country. It is difficult to imagine how the population can pay so much for education and adult care. Is this for the few and not for the many?

For the better

4:57pm Friday 12th March 2010

Like Margaret Brown (Letters, March 11), I too had a wonderful time at the University of Sussex. Coming to study at Sussex was a pivotal moment in my life, as it has been in the lives of thousands of students.

Throwing decency out of the window

4:56pm Friday 12th March 2010

A long time ago, I was walking through a town in Switzerland smoking a cigarette and when it came to discarding it I noticed everywhere I would have thrown it was immaculately clean, without even a cigarette end or matchstick, even in the gutters.

Disabled bus

3:16pm Friday 12th March 2010

Since we downsized to one car about 18 months ago, I have travelled a lot by bus, at all times of day and on a wide variey of routes.

Personal plea

3:15pm Friday 12th March 2010

I am constantly being told we are living in a selfish, uncaring society but I know this is not always the case. There are many people who do care about other people – I am appealing to them.

Caravan plan

3:17pm Friday 12th March 2010

Instead of all the cost and trouble with travellers on the Madeira Drive site, why don’t we just give them membership of the Caravan Club? It would be so much cheaper.

White knight

3:14pm Friday 12th March 2010

I would like to offer huge thanks to someone who saved my day recently. I had a very busy day ahead of me, which began by taking my dog Archie for a morning walk. As I slammed the door behind me I realised I had left my house keys inside. Both my neighbours have spare sets, but unfortunately they were out.

Overdeveloped

3:13pm Friday 12th March 2010

So The Argus is “glad to report” the “positive” news about the revived prospects of massive housing development at Shoreham Harbour (The Argus, March 11).
