Leonard Hudson emails: "I am
looking for any information concerning
a railway accident that happened in
1899 at Wivelsfield.
"A London to Brighton train ran a red
light and collided with the Newhaven boat
train. Six passengers were killed.
"The reason for my interest is I am
researching some family history.
My wife's great-grandfather got
a commendation for saving the
following train from hitting the accident
by running up the track to stop it."
