Brenda Carlisle writes: "I am searching for my half-sister Barbara Thornton, born August 5, 1940 in Hove, Sussex. Her parents are Doris May Sheppard (born Islington 1915) and my father Arthur Thornton (born Grimsby 1912). Barbara's parents were divorced in May 1948 in London.
"As my search has so far proved fruitless, I am adopting a different approach and trying to trace her through her mother's family, who I believe lived in the Islington and Edmonton areas.
"Barbara's maternal grandfather was Francis Cook Sheppard, a piano manufacturer who married a Kate Day.
They had three daughters; Alice, Doris and Evelyn, the latter marrying Gilbert W Morley and having three children; Brenda, Richard and Jill, born 1940, 1944 and 1946 respectively. I believe they resided in Edmonton at some stage.
"If any relatives or friends of the family read this and could be put in touch with me I would be extremely grateful."
