A man said his family are “in pieces” after a swastika was scrawled on his building project.

Offensive graffiti was daubed over the brickwork and the half-finished walls smashed up,

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he has been targeted and the abuse has become more frequent. He called for more action from the police.

He said: “It’s soul destroying. I haven’t got the time to deal with this.

“My wife is in pieces. We have put everything into this place.

“It has been getting more and more frequent but this is one step too far.”

The man said he had been building a stable as part of a six acre project in Sompting and arrived on Thursday morning to find a swastika had been sprayed on the part-finished building.

Other graffiti on the building made death threats and called him “scum” and other offensive words.

The man, whose family comes from a travelling background, added that previously the walls of the building had been “pushed over” and “smashed”.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police received a report of criminal damage at an address in Sompting at about 7.30am on April 25.

“Anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting serial 173 of 25/04.”
