Having just seen this I want to send my condolences to Mick's family. A special friend from many years ago but always in my heart. Taken too soon but he has obviously touched many lives in such a positive way. RIP Mick x

A wonderful teacher who had such a positive impact on so many lives. Even though he taught me 43 years ago I have clear fond and happy memories of his classes. A man to be remembered and esteemed. My condolences to Shelagh and children. Nicola Inkpin, Australia.

Mick and I met on our first day as young teachers at KM in September 1973.We had a lot of laughs, and several beers, in the 3 years I was at KM. We often met up at the pub in Shoreham and frequently had nights out in Worthing when he would often kip at our house before school the next day! We used to meet to play poker (badly) with a couple of my mates and guys like Dennis Meek and Graham Gain. We lost touch when I moved schools and I was very sad to hear news of his death.
Mick was a special teacher. He was self-contained but had some of the funniest one-liners and could always raise a laugh. I'm not surprised he's had so many fond comments from students. His understated commitment to the kids he taught was a lesson for us all.
My profound condolences

Mr McGillicuddy taught me at kings manor school he also taught my mum
And her brothers & sisters and most of my family , he was by far the best teacher of all time , EVERYONE thro the years and all generations speak so highly of him and always have done , Mr McGillicuddy was a legend .. the memory that stands out the most was him running the “unit” where kids were some what challenging / requiring extra help & guidance , he just had the most patience and understanding and had such a kind heart he spoke to children in a way that no other teacher did and this helped so many including myself make progress through there school years , I truly am sorry for his family and I offer my deepest condolences, rest in peace Mr McGillicuddy XXXXX
