ENVIRONMENT AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618 Lewes Tidal Bank Repairs/footpath Improvements The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out embankment repairs to the flood defences on the west bank of the Tidal Ouse, between Willeys Bridge and Offham Outfall, located to the north of Lewes, East Sussex, NGR TQ4145810764 to NGR TQ4057311669. The work involves raising eroded sections of embankment crest back to the correct design level and installation of a Type 1 footpath along the top of the defence to improve public access in the SDNP between Willeys Bridge and the first kissing gate to the north (a length of approximately 270m). This work will take between March 2020 and October 2020.
The Environment Agency considers that these works are not likely
to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend
to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them.
