These three cyclists are ready to set their wheels on fire to raise money for the Argus Appeal.

Keith Stoneham, Neil Hartley and Neil Kempshall, who all work at the Hove office of the Legal & General, will be using pedal power to take part in the Brighton to Paris Cycle Challenge next month.

Experienced cyclist Neil Kempshall, who took part in the 2008 ride as well as The Argus’s South Downs Challenge in 2010, and Keith will be completing the challenge in three days from August 30, while Neil Hartley will be setting off on August 28 to enjoy the ride over five days.

Neil Kempshall said: “I’ve been looking forward to the chance to do this again – last time, with the generous provisions from The Argus support crew, I actually put on more weight than I took off on the trip! The previous trips demonstrated the good use that the money was put to, so we need to make sure it is fully supported again.”

Keith commented: “I’m a local boy and have known The Argus all my life as the local paper, and the opportunity to have a positive impact on a local charity seemed a good thing to do.”

For Neil Hartley, the ride is his first cycle challenge. He said: “I was motivated to do the ride partly by the strong culture at Legal & General of charitable work and partly because I’ve lived in France and enjoy the country.

The Legal & General, a long-time supporter of the Argus Appeal, will match £500 of the amount they raise.

Corporate social responsibility manager Frances Borrer said: “We are very proud of the effort and commitment of our employees in making a difference to the communities where they live and work.

“I’m delighted that Neil K, Keith and Neil H have taken on this challenge and wish them lots of luck in their fundraising efforts.”
