SUSSEX’s key workers are set to be honoured for their efforts during the pandemic with a night of circus entertainment at The Grand hotel in Brighton this weekend.

Barnam’s Bonanza Ball, which is on Saturday, will be a night of circus tricks, fundraising and food to raise money for the Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Charity.

The event is paying tribute to key workers across the country, with business' nominating key workers who they feel deserving of a fun night of food and live entertainment.

The evening has a variety of acts such as cabaret artist Carmen Mon Oxide and multiple world record holder Daniella D’Ville, who will be performing death-defying stunts. The event also features live music and a raffle.

James Mortimer of Brighton Round Table said how “thankful” they are to go ahead with this event.

He added: “We really want to thank our front-line workers for all they have done for the city by putting on an amazing show for them.

“From NHS staff to carers, bus drivers to waste disposal officers, police to retail workers and fire officers to delivery drivers, they all deserve our thanks.

“Supporting the Sussex NHS charity means the money goes directly to those who need it.”

Several businesses have sponsored a table at the event so key workers can attend for free, including Brighton CCTV, TSG Investments, and the Edward Street Quarter development in Brighton.

Liam Ronan-Chlond, head of engagement at Edward Street Quarter said they are happy to be able to sponsor a table so key workers can enjoy the event.

He said: “This event will be an opportunity to raise a glass to our amazing key workers across health care and other essential services – and enjoy a fun night out, while raising money for a good cause.”

There are still a limited number of tickets available for the event on Saturday with tickets costing £70.

The price includes a welcome drink, three-course dinner and half-bottle of wine per person, as well as the spectacular circus-themed event.
