IT is good news for those who are caught short in Brighton - the city ranked third for the best public toilets in the UK in a recent survey.

Brighton scored behind Edinburgh and Peterborough with a score of 58.58 out of 100.

The city scored highly for having over 80 percent of toilets free to use, and for its total number of public restrooms - 102, beaten only by the Scottish capital with 103.

However, Brighton narrowly missed out on the top spot due to a third of Brighton’s toilets not being accessible for all, and almost half lacking baby changing facilities.

On the other end of the scale, Dundee in Scotland was ranked the worst city in the UK for their public toilets - with only 13 in total, with none of them accessible for everyone.

Meanwhile, you will probably need to spend a penny to… spend a penny in Carlisle with only one in four public toilets free to use.

The survey, conducted by online bathroom retailer Victorian Plumbing, ranked cities on the number of toilet facilities, accessibility, baby changing facilities and how many were free to use.
