A FATHER and daughter duo have taken over a 30-year-old independent business.
Russell and Romi Pinsent have purchased and reopened Minuteman Press in Portland Road, Hove.
The father and daughter bought the long-running independent print shop TJ’s Branding Solutions, which had been operating for 30 years through the Minuteman Press International’s conversion programme.
Romi, who also runs a number of care homes with her father, said they are excited to continue the legacy of the previous owner Tony Jenner.
“We are proud to call Brighton and Hove our home, we love where we live and want to offer the best service to all local businesses here,” she said.
Russell has lived in Brighton and Hove since the age of five, while Romi has lived in the city here whole life.
“The store that we have bought has predominantly been a sign writing store that already supports existing businesses and has a good customer base,” she added.
“The work done within the store already supports local businesses by assisting them to promote their own business by way of designing logos, shop fronts and vehicle livery.”
She highlighted their Xerox digital machine, which will allow the store to complete larger print jobs in-house.
Romi said despite over 40 years of business experience between them, she and Russell were cautious about moving into a new industry.
“We visited a franchise show with the intention of looking at a hospitality franchise but quickly realised that this wasn’t something we wanted to explore due to having to work evenings and weekends,” she said.
“We met the Minuteman Press representatives at the franchise show in London who explained to us the way that Minuteman Press worked.
“We were immediately excited knowing there wasn’t a store in our area, and we felt that with the support of the Minuteman team and buying into a global franchise, we would be as equipped as possible to move into a new industry and grow a print business.”
Tony said he was approached at a good time by Minuteman Press regional vice president Mark Jones about selling his business.
“I have been running TJ’s Branding Solutions for over 30 years and was looking at a chance of direction,” he said.
“I was looking to retire and enjoy what I have achieved and spend more time with family. This was a great opportunity to sell at a good price with no broker fees. What was there not to like? It was a smooth exchange and transfer.”
