Three phone boxes are up for auction for £60,000 each, possibly the highest pound per square footage in the country.

The boxes by Brighton pier and in the city centre are being auctioned off in December for a guide price of £60,000.

Two of the historic phone boxes are situated at the entrance to the Palace Pier on Madeira Drive, while the other is outside 30 New Road.

They were originally designed to commemorate King George V's Silver Jubilee and are now protected by Historic England.

Each 'building' is sold separately and is listed as an opportunity to own a piece of British heritage with the benefit of already having planning permission for retail use.

Currently, they are being used to sell merchandise and are said to make £4,320 a year for the owner.

They are listed as 8'3" high and three foot square with connection to electricity and reportedly others are used as coffee shops, museums, bakeries and libraries around the country

According to the BidX1 website the guide price of £60,000 is based on the the seller's current minimum acceptable price at auction.

Other booths around the country are listed with guide prices ranging from £6,000 to £60,000 making the Brighton booths some of the most expensive.

Due to the boxes being classed as heritage sites the listings state that while the buyer will own the kiosk they will be unable to move it or change the exterior.
