The Grade I listed building in Appledram Lane, Chichester, also features two separate cottages on the site.

The six-bedroom, four-bathroom property is on the market for £4.5 million.

According to Historic England, the original part of the house was built for prominent lawyer William Ryman in 1410.

English architect and historian Walter Godfrey extensively remodelled the earlier building in 1913. He also restored a number of important historic buildings and gardens including Chelsea Old Church, the Memorial Chapel at Eton College and Herstmonceux Castle.
