George Street is one of Brighton’s oldest shopping streets and still has a rich mix of shops and businesses. The street which first started to be developed in 1780 was originally built to serve the workers who staffed the grand houses in the area known as East Cliff.
Back in 1901 the road had two butchers, two grocers and a baker, as well as a horse-shoeing business. More than 110 years later trends have changed and George Street hosts a range of different businesses including a hairdresser, barber, restaurants, grocery store and deli.
