The volume of traffic has increased one hundred-fold and policeman on point duty has been replaced by traffic lights.
Note the distinctive white helmet that was worn by Brighton officers until the force became part of Sussex Police in 1968.
In 1933 Brighton Police became the first force in the world to operate with personal radios.
They were one-way only so the officer would have to phone the police station after receiving a call.
