Every May, the Lady Boys Of Bangkok descend upon Brighton and stay for the duration of the month.

Fifteen Thai nationals gyrate, pulsate and thrust in a quite inimitable manner.

The antithesis to serious plays and earnest comedy, theirs is a show that can always be relied upon to provide a raucous, upbeat atmosphere.

Disarmingly beautiful, daringly cocksure, and clad in the kind of extravagant costumes that Dolly Parton could only dream about, the Lady Boys prowl the stage with dozens of eyes clamped upon them for two hours of the finest cabaret.

There’s something gloriously, contagiously light about the show and this year’s offering, Glamorous Amorous, features a mixture of old classics from the likes of Sinatra, disco hits from Cher and Tina Turner, and modern pop from Girls Aloud.

There’s a nod to the topical too, with sexed-up routines to Gangnam Style and a 50 Shades Of Grey interpretation.

Basically, whatever tickles your fancy is probably being tickled on stage. The audience is a mixed group of young and old, sedately seated and in-the-aisles hen party, and all seem to enjoy the show equally. That is to say – vastly.
