Madcap, surreal, innovative and genius.

The Cardinal Burns stage show made an early evening appearance at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange as part of the comedy duo's tour of the UK.

Channel 4 stalwarts Seb Cardinal and Dustin Demri-Burns got the show started by erratically prancing around the stage dressed in suave suits, miming and dancing to an R Kelly song.

Not abnormal, apart from their oversized, two-tone blonde wigs which spurted out sweaty champagne as they danced around in the audience.

The hour-long show comprised of a series of impressive sketches, some known to fans; Rachel the star of her own reality TV show Young Dreams and the not so serious paranormal investigators, with unknown and new sketches such as the hilarious French improv comedians. Speaking in a foreign language (almost) and keeping the audience captivated was impressive. With little in the way of costume changes or props the pair had the audience in a constant hysteria.

The duo proved that in order to be truly funny you can't just muck about on stage for an hour. At points it may have appeared as if they were just being silly but their impressions were flawless, timing impeccable and chemistry together just right.

The audience participation and improv when a fly interrupted the This Is Your Life style interview with a nondescript nobody proved the talented pair were just as adept at thinking on their feet as well as performing a planned set.

Two clever comedians portraying buffoons on stage.
