Giant block digits counted down to zero before the Brighton Centre was plunged into darkness and Kasabian hit the stage.

As the capacity crowd roared two spotlights lit up and the swaggering vocalist Tom Meighan and guitarist Serge Pizzorno appeared - performing a stripped down acoustic version of indie rock belter bumblebee.

The chorus built and the stomping electro-rock beat kicked in as the band’s stadium-worthy sound, flashing backdrop and laser show sprung into life.

The Leicester-born chart toppers pumped out hit after hit and did not leave any of their five albums unrepresented.

With a near unmatched live sound mixed with buckets of charisma Kasabian showed why they have forged a reputation as one of the country’s top live acts.

The band closed with Fire as people in the crowd set off smuggled in flares of coloured smoke which choked the arena.

Returning for an encore the band closed with a cover of Fatboy Slim’s Praise You which built into a manic sing-along of L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever).

While the house lights went up Meighan and Pizzorno goaded the crowd to carry on chanting the chorus – bringing an unforgettable end to an unforgettable show.
